The COVID-19 pandemic situation has educated us on how to try to avoid infections and how to stay healthy. Lava provides an answer to this new reality with an innovative finishing supplement that combines antibacterial properties with a reducing effect of viral activity.

Reducing viral activity

Recent studies have shown that the lifespan of the current pandemic virus SARS-COV-2 is 24 hours with a half-life (point were only 50% of viruses is still active) of 3.5 -4 hours on textiles. External tests on our fabrics treated with Viroclean have demonstrated an average decline in viral activity of 91.92% after 2hours. After 4 hours, viral activity is reduced by an average of 97.84%. Half-life is reached much faster, leading to less chance of virus spreading and contamination.

Anti-bacterial properties

As known for a long time, bacteria can build up in textiles and cause malodours, mildew spreading and hence discoloration. Furthermore, bacterial build-up can cause secondary bacterial infections to humans. To eliminate different types of microorganisms (bacteria) and to provide a fresh and pure fabric, a permanent non-migrating antimicrobial technology is included in the finishing treatment.

Sustainable treatment

We are of course not just thinking about the virus and don’t want to forget the environmental consumer push from before the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore we have selected a sustainable non-metal containing, non-leaching, recyclable technology. It is Oekotex compliant and will not cause skin irritation. Furthermore, treated fabrics enables washes at a lower temperature. This reduces the environmental impact even further.
