Next to knitting the mattress ticking on our circular knitting machines, LAVA is also specialized in finishing the fabrics in-house at each of our production locations. During this process, we are able to achieve the desired width, weight and volume of the fabric. In addition, the finishing process allows us to add certain functionalities (anti-static, water repellent, flame retardant) all depending on customer preferences.

To minimize our impact on the environment and local stakeholders, LAVA installed filtering systems that remove oils and odors from exhaust gasses coming from our finishing machines. In the video underneath, our supplier Desotec visited us at our plant in Belgium to show how our filtration system is working.

Next to an ionization filter, we have installed DESOTEC’s active carbon filter system to remove all remaining pollutants from the exhaust air. Once the active carbon is saturated, Desotec is able to collect and recycle the carbon, leading to a durable and completely clean solution.
